For decades, I have been the go-to problem solver.

Clients, employers, and colleagues knew they could count on me to fix things.

I worked late, skipped holidays, and put their priorities ahead of my own.

Eventually, late last year, this lifestyle and workload put me in hospital.

I thought hard work and loyalty would bring success.

Instead, I watched them enjoy the rewards – higher profits, more time off, and career growth – while I stayed stuck in the same cycle: solving their problems, chasing their goals, making them money, furthering their careers.

It hit me hard one day:

I had spent my career prioritising OPP – Other People’s Problems, Profit, People, and Priorities – while mine were on the back burner.

The OPP Trap:
- Solving problems you don’t own
- Making money for others while staying underpaid
- Building their network, while yours stays small
- Running on their schedule, not yours

The truth?
You’ll never break free if you keep putting OPP first.

The Shift: From OPP to Opportunity
- Monetise your expertise instead of giving it away
- Negotiate for value, not just income
- Build your OWN network of people who elevate YOU
- Put YOUR priorities first and create leverage

I’m shifting my focus from serving others’ interests to owning my own opportunities.

This isn’t just a business move, it’s a mindset shift.

I’ll be sharing more insights on escaping the OPP Trap and taking back control.
